The roster's omissions are as important as its fields. It does not list a housing unit, arresting officer, full criminal complaint, full date of birth, race, height, weight, hair, eye color, or address. Those limits help protect against overreading a roster entry. Use the jail record for current custody and use court or records-request channels for the rest.
Find Redwood County Custody Elsewhere
When a Redwood County inmate record is not on the roster, do not stop at one failed search. The sheriff's annual report says most overflow is housed at Renville County Jail. After sentencing, a person committed to the Commissioner of Corrections belongs in the Minnesota DOC public viewer, not the county roster. Federal and immigration custody have separate systems.

Victim and family notification is a different task from roster lookup. Minnesota DOC routes DOC custody notification through Minnesota Haven and county jail notification through Minnesota VINE. Those systems can help with release alerts, but they are not certified court records and do not replace a call to the jail when a release, transfer, or hold has immediate consequences.

Redwood County Booking Records
Booking starts when an arrestee or self-reporting sentenced person enters Redwood County Jail. The jail creates a record with MNI, booking number, intake date, name, sex, age, charges, and bail or bond data. The roster also shows a photo thumbnail, so booking-photo capture is part of the public custody record for people listed on the roster. Court status can change later as judges and prosecutors update conditions.
Self-report instructions are specific. A person ordered to serve a sentence must report to the jail entrance on the date and time set by the court, bring the sentencing order, pay a $25 booking fee, provide a breath test and possibly a urine sample, and follow tobacco-free and property rules. Work-release applicants must return the prequalification packet at least seven days before reporting, and final approval rests with the Jail Administrator.
For older booking records, the current roster is not enough. Use a public data request to the sheriff's office for booking or arrest data that is no longer visible online. If the requested material is prosecutor-held, the Redwood County Attorney's Office page identifies a data-practices request form. If the record was created while a Redwood inmate was boarded in Renville, Renville Sheriff's records process may also be relevant.
Redwood County Visitation Records
Redwood County visiting occurs by video in the visiting quarters of the jail lobby. Visits are limited to 20 minutes, and each visitor is allowed one visit per inmate per day. The jailer on duty may limit visit length so others can use the video quarters. Visitors register, may need positive identification, and are subject to frisk search.

No personal items may be brought for a prisoner. Letters, pictures, and similar items must come through the U.S. Post Office. Children under 18 may visit immediate family during Saturday visiting only, and children 15 or younger must be with an adult family member over 18.
Contact visiting is limited to attorney, clergy, probation or parole officer, police officials, and medical personnel. Visitors who smell of alcohol or appear under the influence of drugs will not be allowed to visit. People released from custody may not return as visitors to see another inmate for six months after release unless an exception is approved.

The sheriff's office publishes deposit and phone-card routes for Redwood County inmates. Deposits can be made day or night through the kiosk in the jail entrance or online through the linked Canteen/JailATM deposit site. Phone-card services are linked through Reliance Telephone. Redwood County also appears in the 2024 DOC Local Jail Communications Legislative Report. The report lists 14,056 calls, 63,819 call minutes, 2,461 video calls, and 215,534 e-messages for Redwood County Jail. The county reported commission spending on new bunks and recreation equipment, which is useful context for phone, video, and e-message services even though it is not a user fee schedule.
